Manchester United assistant manager Charlotte Healy will leave the club and take over as Bristol City head coach this week.

Healy, who joined United as Under-21s manager in 2019, has been first-team assistant to Marc Skinner in recent years.

She played a key role in the team's success, helping them win a first major trophy with the Women's FA Cup and qualify for the Champions League.

Bristol City have been without a permanent manager since 13 May when Stephen Kirby stepped down after one season in WSL 2.

It is another step up for Healy, who has taken on a number of roles in youth and first team women's football at Manchester City, Liverpool and United.

This week she temporarily joined up with the Republic of Ireland squad to help them prepare for two friendly matches against the USA, teaming up with manager Carla Ward and interim Liverpool boss Amber Whiteley.
