Rosi Webb played for Tottenham Hotspur and Charlton Athletic at youth level
Rosi Webb has left her position as manager of non-league Stanway Pegasus after six years for a role at Charlton Athletic.
Webb, who has a Uefa A licence, was one of the few female coaches in charge of a men's team in England, but will now take charge of the Women's Under-21 squad at Charlton.
She leaves with Essex-based Stanway sixth in Eastern Counties League Division One North, just one point outside the play-off places
She will continue helping with the women's team at the club but owner Ian Booth said on X: "Rosi's transition into the professional game is monumental for her, but what we have achieved together is truly remarkable.
"Providing her with the opportunity to enter the men's game was never in question and she has been outstanding in her time here.
"As a coach and as a person, she is exceptional."
No club has ever appointed a female manager in the top five tiers of English men's football, although Hannah Dingley had a two-week spell as interim boss of Forest Green Rovers in 2023 when she was head of their academy.
Holders of an A licence are eligible to coach men's teams up to and including the Championship - but need a Pro licence to do so in the top flight.
Webb guided Stanway's men to the Essex and Suffolk Border League title in 2022 but they have so far been unable to take the next step, missing out in the play-offs in the last two campaigns.
"While we are genuinely sad to see her move on from the men's section, this is an opportunity she simply must embrace. I have no doubt she will find success," said Banks.
"She holds our club close to her heart, and the respect she has earned from all the players is immense.
"Good luck, Rosi. Go and make it happen."
